Thursday, Debra Burlingame and Hamilton Peterson appeared on The Factor with Bill O’Reilly to discuss the release of OLC memos. (See disclaimer at the end of this post.)
Some portion of Islam is conducting a war upon both Islam and America.
Torturing Muslims, raping Muslims, baking Muslim children in ovens, strapping bombs to mentally handicapped Muslims and setting them off among Muslims, cutting off Muslims’ heads, and hanging and shooting Muslims as “spies” in soccer stadiums is al Qaeda’s foreign policy, not American foreign policy.
The only genocidal war being conducted is the one al Qaeda is waging. They seek to subjugate the world through violent means. They site a prophet’s teachings as justification for their holy war, to slaughter innocent believers and non-believers alike, and as an excuse to disregard calls for an end to violence from within their own faith.
This “debate” over torture, the release of classified OLC memos, and the upcoming release of photographs will not end that war. And America’s self-flagellation is reckless foreign policy.
Yet let’s release all the memos nonetheless.
As we drag ourselves down, the least we can do is help the peaceful Muslims around the world; they should know what did and did not work before the next Muslim suicide bomber blows him or herself up in a marketplace crowded with Muslims.
In America, if President Obama is wrong and another September 11 or worse happens here on his watch, we can investigate the matter, make more apologies to Muslims for what Muslims have done, release more memos, and keep polishing our image.
It is the new American way.
