September 11th Families to Hold News Conference to Announce National Campaign Urging Change of Current Memorial Plan at Ground Zero

New York, NY, January 23, 2007 – Families of the victims of the September 11th attacks will hold a press conference in Lower Manhattan to unveil a national media campaign to educate and alert the American people about the current plan for the memorial at Ground Zero, estimated to cost $500 million. The leaders of major family groups and representatives of uniformed services personnel will announce the launch of a national grassroots outreach campaign protesting the refusal by the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation and its chairman, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, to acknowledge the individual dignity of the 2,979 people who died in the attacks of 2001 and 1993. Family members will announce a new website and screen a 60 second television ad which will begin appearing markets in New York City.
