Reminder: ‘Root causes’ Barack Obama hired ‘9/11 truther’ Van Jones (to get the band back together)

Update, 9/09/2009: Michelle Malkin reports Charlie Sheen is demanding a meeting with President Obama to tell him the 9/11 ‘truth’ which makes him perfect for replacing Van Jones. Poor Charlie; he’s back on the hard drugs again (see note #3 at the bottom of this post).

Van Jones’ has a law degree so naturally that makes him fully qualified to advise the President of the most prosperous nation on earth on how to green the blocks in question that somehow became un-green. No matter that Van Jones first began learning about environmental pollution somewhere around 2008. If we don’t hire Presidents with the necessary knowledge and skills for the job, why should we expect them to do otherwise? No one should be aghast. Obama hired like-minded people, the people he likes, and those who will run the offices and agencies they head consistent with Obama’s thinking and policies. Van Jones is not just some low-level file clerk or the official dog-walker; President Barack Obama hired him as his communist community organizer to get the band of rebels back together.

Van Jones founded and directed Standing Together to Organize the Revolutionary Movement. What follows is a passage from STORM’s Spring 2004 after-action report (Van Jones obviously approved it) after he and his comrades stopped revolting under that name and assumed others, just like terrorist groups often do. They spawned other like-minded groups or infiltrated the mainstream to subvert our republic from within:

“That night [September 12, 2001], STORM and the other movement leaders expressed sadness and anger at the deaths of innocent working class people. We were angry, first and foremost, with the U.S. government, whose worldwide aggression had engendered such hate across the globe that working class people were not safe at home. We honored those who had lost their lives in the attack — and those who would surely lose their lives in subsequent U.S. attacks overseas.”

The self-described “communist” and revolutionary Van Jones is also a liar *; he willingly signed a 9/11 ‘truth’ petition:

“He is listed with 99 other prominent signatories supporting such an investigation on the 911Truth.org website, including Code Pink co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodi Evans, comedienne Janeane Garofalo, Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia and others. He’s identified as the executive director for the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights on the statement, which he founded before going to the White House. … Mike Berger, a spokesman for 911Truth.org, told the Washington Times over the phone that all of the signers had been verified by their group. He said 9/11Truth.org board members “spoke with each person on the list by phone or through email to individually confirm they had added their name to that list.””

I am not saying Barack Obama is a 9/11 ‘truther,’ as I define them, to wit: 9/11 conspiracy theorists who are ignorant, lying, politically motivated, anti-Semites, or profiteering (the latter I also call grave robbers). What I am saying is Barack Obama and Van Jones agree that 9/11 was all America’s own fault; we brought death and destruction down upon ourselves through imperialism.

If you are angry and want to bite my fingers off, calm down and read Barack Obama, in his own words. A hat tip goes to Steve Gilbert at Sweetness & Light who wrote “Obama … in the current issue of The New Yorker we are treated to his response to 9/11 as published in the September 19th 2001 edition of the Hyde Park Herald“:

“Even as I hope for some measure of peace and comfort to the bereaved families, I must also hope that we as a nation draw some measure of wisdom from this tragedy. Certain immediate lessons are clear, and we must act upon those lessons decisively. We need to step up security at our airports. We must reexamine the effectiveness of our intelligence networks. And we must be resolute in identifying the perpetrators of these heinous acts and dismantling their organizations of destruction.

“We must also engage, however, in the more difficult task of understanding the sources of such madness. The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. Such a failure of empathy, such numbness to the pain of a child or the desperation of a parent, is not innate; nor, history tells us, is it unique to a particular culture, religion, or ethnicity. It may find expression in a particular brand of violence, and may be channeled by particular demagogues or fanatics. Most often, though, it grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair.

“We will have to make sure, despite our rage, that any U.S. military action takes into account the lives of innocent civilians abroad. We will have to be unwavering in opposing bigotry or discrimination directed against neighbors and friends of Middle Eastern descent. Finally, we will have to devote far more attention to the monumental task of raising the hopes and prospects of embittered children across the globe—children not just in the Middle East, but also in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and within our own shores.”

Steve continued, “Here are his comments about the event in the revised for 2004 preface to his autobiographical tome, Dreams From My Father (pg. 2)”:

“And then, on September 11, 2001, the world fractured.

“It’s beyond my skill as a writer to capture that day, and the days that would follow — the planes, like specters, vanishing into steel and glass; the slow-motion cascade of the towers crumbling into themselves; the ash-covered figures wandering the streets; the anguish and the fear. Nor do I pretend to understand the stark nihilism that drove the terrorists that day and that drives their brethren still. My powers of empathy, my ability to reach into another’s heart, cannot penetrate the blank stares of those who would murder innocents with abstract, serene satisfaction.

What I do know is that history returned that day with a vengeance [all emphasis added here mine]; that, in fact, as Faulkner reminds us, the past is never dead and buried — it isn’t even past. This collective history, this past, directly touches my own. Not merely because the bombs of Al Qaeda have marked, with an eerie precision, some of the landscapes of my life — the buildings and roads and faces of Nairobi, Bali, Manhattan; not merely because, as a consequence of 9/11, my name is an irresistible target of mocking websites from overzealous Republican operatives. But also because the underlying struggle-between worlds of plenty and worlds of want; between the modern and the ancient; between those who embrace our teeming, colliding, irksome diversity, while still insisting on a set of values that binds us together, and those who would seek, under whatever flag or slogan or sacred text, a certainty and simplification that justifies cruelty toward those not like us — is the struggle set forth, on a miniature scale, in this book.

I know, I have seen, the desperation and disorder of the powerless: how it twists the lives of children on the streets of Jakarta or Nairobi in much the same way as it does the lives of children on Chicago’s South Side, how narrow the path is for them between humiliation and untrammeled fury, how easily they slip into violence and despair. I know that the response of the powerful to this disorder — alternating as it does between a dull complacency and, when the disorder spills out of its proscribed confines, a steady, unthinking application of force, of longer prison sentences and more sophisticated military hardware — is inadequate to the task. I know that the hardening of lines, the embrace of fundamentalism and tribe, dooms us all.”

The key plotters and perpetrators of 9/11 did not come from poverty. Beyond multi-millionaire Osama bin Laden, nearly all the rest were well educated and came from middle and upper class families. Yet America somehow drove them to murder and maim? No. They used the words of their prophet as an excuse, in furtherance of the subjugation of the world, for earthly pleasure and to please their God. Barack Obama is smart and knows all that.

While he did not live a life of desperation, Obama seeks to sow disorder in order to then remake America into something it never was, a nation of individuals all equal in misery and reliant upon the state for their welfare; Obama hired Van Jones because both are dedicated to that cause.

* Note #2: Rense virtually birthed the 9/11 ‘truth’ moment in the San Francisco area just across the bay from where two of the groups Van Jones co-founded, STORM and Ella Baker, were located. That Van Jones was the listed point of contact for the latter and both of his groups were connected with Rense’s January 8, 2002 rally is evidence he was in on the early discussions concerning the truther movement’s founding intent. He did not need, then or ever, to believe Rense’s insidious rhetoric; a willingness to lend support to the undermining goals of associates was all that was required to maintain a relationship with a group within his network. For Van Jones, it was a ‘fire and forget’ mission, a lending of support before going back to focusing on his own causes, just like it was in 2004 when he lent his name to the petition presented to him by 911truth.org. As their base theories were first generated from within a coalition of radical fringe groups with the shared goal of overthrowing the government through seditious means, it is both ironic and misleading when truthers are called conspiracy theorists.

Note #3: I was asked a question about this. That question is contained within my answer below:

We all should question government. All who explore the unknown, determine the facts the best they can, continue to build a base of knowledge, and voice opinions are exercising good citizenship. Those that look at the theories and do those things, I have little problem with so long as they do not stop short.

Primarily, I am saying Van Jones joined a coalition for his own subversive purposes.

As I define them a 9/11 ‘truther’ conspiracy theorist is either ignorant, lying, politically motivated, an anti-Semite, or profiteering. Most of the rank and file became one out of ignorance and many of them left after the debunkers took the major theories apart, brick by brick.

To the extent Jeff Rense perfectly fits the profile of a profiteering 9/11 conspiracy theorist (a grave robber), aims solely at the right of center and “Zionists,” and conjures from thin air wholly unsupported theories without regard to the undermining effects upon on our republic, the short answer to your question (“So you’re saying truthers are subversives?”) is yes.

As to others, Alex Jones and Jesse “I’m just asking questions” Ventura are profiteers. Ed Asner is a pure ideologue. Rosie O’Donnell is dumber than a post. Charlie Sheen had a mind sickened by all the illegal drugs he consumed. … the list is long. Oh, for Willie Rodriquez, it was his path to fame (another profiteer).
