Emails to Congressman John Murtha page 2

Mr Murtha, As a retired US Army Warrent Officer, two tour Vietnam Vet, I wish to express my displeasure to you on your stand against members of the US Marine Corps. As the son of a Marine Pvt who dies from combat wounds received in WW-2 I will say to you Sir you place the honor of the military lower then your own desire to gain political power in Washington DC. I do not think you would have been so fast and loose with your words if you were still subjected to the UCMJ yourself.

I weep Sir. My country weeps, and my Father also weeps for your conduct in this matter.

I, as many, think you have no grasp on the “War”, Sir it is a world wide jihad, it will not go away due to any action by Congress. I see your efforts as an attempt to buy reelection in Pa. with the blood shed by our military.

I do hope you will support the return of the military draft, Sir, you will soon need it to maintain what is left of our military after their surrender by Congress.

George Samek, CW-3, US Army Retired

Mr. Murtha:

Your comments about the Marines, calling them murderers was beyond the pale; it was sheer disgusting. All these comments from you people on the left only lends aid and comfort to the enemy. We have a word for that, Mr. Murtha.

In light of the recent news about the false information YOU were relying on to make you outrageous comments, are you going to apologize? I won’t hold my breath, though.

It is time for you to apologize and resign.

John Baumann, Major, FA, US Army, Retired

Dear Murtha,

My son spent a year in Baghdad defending your worthless hide. For that you have tarred him with unspeakable slanderous lies. Many of our very best have given their precious lives in defense of the liberties that you sell so cheaply in order to further your own miserable and ultimately forgettable career. They will be remembered as they should be, with awe and admiration. When you finally die sir, it will only be noted that a petty, self absorbed and feeble minded wretched excuse for a man had finally stopped depositing soiled diapers in the public landfill.

With all due respect (which is none).
Father of an Iraq war veteran.

As a Pennsylvanian and a veteran I found Congressman Murtha’s rush to proclaim, on international airwaves, a member of the military “guilty” prior to a fair hearing a despicable act unworthy of any American but particularly reprehensible for a member of Congress. While a public apology is certainly the least he could offer, I think resignation is in order. If he refuses to resign I would strongly support a recall or impeachment, which ever is the proper legal action.

Sir: I find your statement regarding the incident at Haditha self-serving and shameful. As a representative of the law you should uphold the constitutionally sanctioned “innocent until proven guilty”. Instead, in and effort to further your own agenda your shameful action has harmed your country, this fine young man and his family. You should resign your office as you are not fit to serve.

Norma Newman, Clifton, New Jersey

——

Congressman Murtha I respect your position as a Congressman for this great country of ours. I don’t however share your politics or the way you conduct yourself. I am a Vietnam veteran, although not a decorated one, and I am very pround to call myself a veteran. I would do it again tomorrow. I am discussed by your actions against the military. You of all people should be ashamed of yourself. I certainly am ashamed of you as most veterans are I am sure. Your actions in making public statement concerning the marines in Haditha had them convicted before any evidence was even presented. Who made you judge and jury. These young men and women who serve in our military are an exceptional group. They deserve your support not your sharp tongue. They, like you and me in our time, put there life on the line day in and day out. How dare you treat them like dirt.

I am asking you to apologize to these Marines and the military as a whole and to do the honorable thing and step down from your position. You would be doing this great country a great favor.

Jerry D Christensen, Franklin, Tennessee

——

Mr. Murtha:

I avoid using the honorarium of addressing you as “The Honorable” as your comments and unwarranted accusations against members of the United States Marine Corps were anything but honorable. These valiant service members, serving at the behest of the President and with the concurrence of your body, were subject to slanderous allegations in the media primarily due to your comments, referring to them as “cold blooded murderers.” And, because they were active duty and subject to the Uniformed Code of Military Justice, they were unable to defend themselves against these outrageous allegations.

Mr. Murtha, as a former Marine and a member of Congress, you also are required to uphold a higher standard. Your public comments, based on hearsay and rumor, lent credibility to these allegations and besmirched the integrity and honor of all service members, both past and present. If you were a man of honor and integrity, Sir, you would immediately issue a public apology to all who have suffered at your hands. However, as your comments reflect your integrity and honor, I do not expect an apology is forthcoming.

Perhaps, Sir, you should consult with your staffers, who could provide you a copy of the oath all service members must take. You should then compare it to the oath of office you took upon entering Congress. I’m sure you would notice the similarity. It appears, Sir, that the service members you so blatantly and viciously slandered are upholding their oath. However, Sir, I do not see you upholding your oath. Your comments did nothing more than give our enemy aid and comfort and demoralize our own honorable service members. You, Sir, are a disgrace to your office and the uniform you once wore.

Congressman Murtha:

You are a disgrace and traitor to this country; however, you are not alone in the halls of congress. You match up quite well with the other ‘aiding and abetting the enemy’ moron, John Kerry. I personally am supporting any action toward both of you that will result in a charge of treason. In addition, I pledge to contribute financially to anyone that runs against you even though I am not from your state provided that person supports our troops.

You are pathetic.

Congressman Murtha:

I am a citizen of the United States of America and I also served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years during the Viet Nam War. I am very proud of that. It saddens me when a public figure with the power of a US Senator makes harmful comments about our President, Military Troops and especially Marines who are accused of War Crimes by Foreigners. In my opinion this type of comments brings harm to our efforts in forms of decreasing Morale of our Military and weakens the resolve of our citizens at home. I have been separated from active duty in the Marines for several years but have continues to serve my brothers in the Marines over the years. Why would you condemn fellow Marines of Crimes without their presumption of innocence? Why would you put your personal comments in the Media before all the evidence is gathered, verified and guilt or innocence pronounced by US Law?

The only answers I can find to these questions is to further your political agenda and to capitalize on your efforts to stop the War on terror. I care less what your political party is. I will stand by our elected president regardless of Political Parties and will support the US Military as much as I can, especially during the time of war. Be assured others feel as I do and will stand against your media tactics.

Congressman Jack Murtha

Sir,

Please publicly renounce your condemnation of the Haditha Marines. They deserve your apology. The hearings to date appear to be concluding that they shouldn’t even be brought to trial. Your calling them “cold blooded killers” even before any trial was not the way to treat America’s fighting men.

The deserve the presumption of innocence if anyone does.

There is no doubt in my mind that I will never believe in the guilt of even one of these men, if they do happen to be tried and convicted. Why? You have so poisoned the pool that the doubt of “command influence” will forever be on my mind.

Shame on you, Sir.

Hi mr. murtha,

say you had been there? a heartbeat is all you got, how would have done?

don’t know how i’d have done either; a 20 yr. vet with very good preparation for the stuff in vietnam. no, not a single heart beating in anyone would react the same. One would pump fast; adrenalin pumping. another might just stand and get murdered by the fine, upstanding owners of the oil.

just think about how you’d perform over there. i don’t believe you will, ’cause politics=one who leaves the law to convince others of their position,…definition from encarta encyclopedia.

i kinda’ put my own twist on the above…one who leaves/forgets the law entirely, to convince others of their position.

doesn’t matter what is said good or not, correct or not…just spell the source of the statements name correctly.

think before you speak, my teacher, prof., bosses said to my associates and me.

i forgot, that statement only to non politicians.

i could go on but what’s the use; your eyes won’t see this or feel the anguish, have night sweats over real-world survival, etc., etc., etc.,

the parent letter from my veteran organization, vietnam vets. of brevard county, fl. reminded us to write you on this with a cival tone.

i think i did just that. if i didn’t, have one of your people provide feedback to me on same.

bottom line..there are no words to use in response to this subject, ’cause it just doesn’t matter to the suits in command of non polititions…our words just don’t matter…just yours…only your words, your thoughts;mainly your staffers, handlers, and your party agenda, most importantly, the lobyists.

when we talk were desgruntled. when you talk, you are caring, loving and only considering the welfare of we, the american people.

that’s all, v/r, robert a. getchell, USN, retired

Dear Mr. Murtha;

I do not address you as Congressman due to the disrepute you have brought upon the institution of the US House of Representatives for slandering the brave men and women of the US Armed Services serving through out the world. While I can’t vote for anyone running against you, my money has and will again support efforts to peacefully remove you from office at the earliest opportunity. You statements are disgraceful.

——

Dear Congressman Murtha,

Do you recall exactly when you sold your soul along with your dignity? How can a supposed decorated veteran make such slanderous and baseless accusations against his brothers? If I’m not mistaken, the Marine Corps considers itself a brotherhood.

You are an embarassment not only to the Corps but also to every American that has or is now serving in the armed forces. May God have mercy on you for selling your soul to the gods of political expediency.

Sincerely yours,
Christopher S. Hutcherson

I HAVE AGREED TO TO BE CIVIL IN MY WRITING TO YOU. DO YOU REMEMBER SEMPER FI? HOW CAN YOU PUT POLITICS BEFORE OUR TROOPS? YOU ARE A TRAITOR TO THE VERY MEN WHO WOULD LAY THEIR LIVES DOWN FOR YOUR FREEDOM! YOU OWE THAT MARINE AN APOLOGY REGARDLESS OF THE OUT COME!AS A MATTER OF FACT, YOU OWE THW WHOLE CORPS AN APOLOGY!

——

Congressman Murtha:

My fellow Marines are fighting an enemy that dresses in civilian clothes, he uses women and children as shields and he also uses those that Stalin referred to as “useful fools” to spread his propaganda. Sir, you are one of those “useful fools” … you are aligned with our enemy and it is apparent that you relish accusations from our enemies to bolster yourself and your fellow “loyal” liberals at the expense of our men fighting on foreign fields of battle. I have two sons on active duty in the Marine Corps today and you and those like you have placed my sons at greater risk to advance your personal agendas. You, sir, are a disgrace and you are not like any Marine I have ever known. You owe all the Haditha Marines of 3/1 and all Marines in our Corps an apology for the extremely ignorant, ill-conceived, damning comments you made about these good combat Marines. And, you, sir, owe the rest of America your immediate resignation.

May God forgive you for your betrayal of our Marines and may He also forgive you for your betrayal of our country for I, sir, will not forgive you and I hold you in the same level of contempt as Jane Fonda, Ramsey Clark and their traitorous ilk.

Dear Mr. Murtha,

You must apologize to the Marines you spoke ill of and then leave office. Please quit your office so we can get someone in there that has a brain. You are an *** hole sir.

——

Mr. Murtha,

As a decorated Vietnam Veteran (11B10) from July, 1969 to June 12, 1970, and the father of two sons deployed in the US Army Infantry, I am ashamed of your bellicose pronouncements on the War in Iraq and, specifically, your public posturing versus our most noble Marines in Haditha. Without the benefit of PRESUMED INNOCENCE OR PROPER EVIDENCE you declared, in no uncertain terms, that these Marines were GUILTY of heinous crimes. I would pose the question, “WHAT’S HAPPENED TO YOU” and Jim Webb, for that matter, but the answer is obvious. You, sir, are willing to endanger the mission and the very lives of the most courageous band of US Military brothers and sisters that have VOLUNTEERED to protect us all, including those of you who not only desire but have worked feverishly to destroy.

Adamantly,

Steven Davis
Walterboro, SC

——

Congressman Murtha,

It’s difficult to believe that a veteran would attack fellow soldiers as you have. It’s way past time to be a man, admit your mistake, and apologize. But more unbelievable..just as the left and the press promoted defeat in Vietnam, a former soldier is now promoting defeat in Iraq. After more than 40 years I would like to see an end to global Islamic terror.

Take the flys out of your eyes Mr. Jack Murtha. Use whatever remnants of your Marine Corps psyche remains if indeed there is anything left and stand to for the truth. You were wrong. Admit it. An apology to the real Marines is in order.

It is hard to believe that Congressman Murtha represents the district where one of the planes crashed on 9/11.

What is wrong with the people in that district.

He may represent their ideas but he doesn’t represent mine. I wish that congressional elections were nationwide so we could get rid of dead heads like Murtha or at least I would have the chance to vote against him.

——

Congressman Murtha;
I am writing to demand you resign from the United States House of Representitives.

By passing judgement on the Haditha Marines and exerting Command Influence upon Marine officers before the accused had been investigated you have disgraced yourself and the uniform you once wore.

I’m told you were a good Marine and that you have become unhinged but I believe your desire for power and your greed for the graft available to you in your position have rotted your very soul. You are unfit to serve in any capacity in our government and should surrender your pension and benefits with the resignation I expect you to issue ASAP.

Congressman Murtha

Being a retired vietnam vet, I am extremely upset by your telling the world that we have lost the war in Iraq and thus putting our BROTHERS in much more danger than they would be otherwise. I would think that you would support the troops in harms way rather than pronounce troops guilty of atrocities without waiting for an investigation to be completed.I think it is unconscionable what you, Pelosi, and Reed are doing to the troops.
Dennis R. Black
——

Dear Congressman Murtha:

I am appalled at your behavior in publicly condemning US Marines of “overreacting and killing innocent civilians in cold blood”. The fact that a person of your position as a Congressman to make such a statement before the investigation is completed is bad enough. But it is made even worse, in my mind, because you are also a Marine. Then if that weren’t enough, a Marine who served in Vietnam. How can a Marine with combat experience make such an insane statement; such an unfounded condemnation of our brave troops before the incident in question has even been investigated?

Isn’t the job of our brave soldiers and Marines hard enough without someone, especially a Congressman, making such an unfounded public accusation? Did your experience in Vietnam not teach you how damaging to our entire armed forces such a statement can be? As a veteran of three tours of duty in Vietnam and Cambodia, I can only say that your irresponsible behavior is as contemptible as anything that I have ever witnessed.

According to the laws of our nation, the United States of America, one is “presumed innocent until proven guilty”. If such rights, afforded to any citizen of this great nation, are extended to all except those who are protecting our rights, WITH THEIR LIVES, then something is terribly wrong.

Some are calling for an apology or your resignation. I sir, am calling for both. For what you have done is absolutely inexcusable. You sir, are a disgrace to our nation, to our Congress and to our military. Over the years I have seen a lot of unbelievable behavior by some of our so called “leaders” in Washington, but nothing ever has been so despicable as what you have done.
